Why the practice exists

Means tests translate a complicated household into boxes, periods and thresholds. Applicants may be managing fluctuating work, support from relatives, separate bank accounts or a recent change in living arrangements while also dealing with disability-related demands. An unexplained difference is not necessarily dishonesty—but it still needs a factual explanation.

Sourcegridbase was established in Durban to provide a patient, independent check before those differences reach a decision-maker. Our role is narrow by design: audit the application record, reconcile the figures and make the findings understandable.

The people behind the review

Our review team combines financial-record examination, administrative case preparation and community-service experience. A lead reviewer owns each file. Material findings are checked by a second reviewer before the written report is released.

We maintain referral relationships for matters outside our work, including legal representation, tax advice, social work and medical evidence. A referral is not an admission of failure; it keeps the applicant from relying on advice we are not qualified to provide.

Principles that shape every file

Accuracy before reassurance. We will not label a discrepancy harmless without evidence. We explain both the problem and the practical next step.

Minimum necessary information. We ask only for records relevant to financial eligibility. Medical detail belongs with the appropriate assessor, not in our audit file.

Your account remains yours. We do not alter records or construct an explanation for convenience. You decide what to submit after reviewing our findings.

Accessible conversation. Written findings avoid unexplained accounting language. A representative or support person may join meetings with the applicant’s permission.

Local base, wider reach

Appointments are available at our Durban office by arrangement, and reviews can be completed remotely across South Africa. Remote work begins only after identity and authority checks appropriate to the engagement.
